After teaching high school English for more than a decade, followed by a few years off for a parenting break, I realized I was ready to re-enter the professional world by trying something new. For two years I was Managing Director of Friends of WRR, a Dallas-based nonprofit that supports classical music and the arts, which piqued my interest in issue advocacy and social impact roles. And because I’ve always been a strong writer and communicator, I decided to enhance my skillset and learn more about the world of public relations and communications.
I was accepted into the Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies in 2023 and spent the next two years pursuing a master’s degree. My studies included writing for diverse audiences and formats, building strong media relations strategies, identifying and engaging stakeholders, and creating successful communications campaigns that raise awareness and get results.
Now that I am an official graduate ready to begin the next stage of my career, my goal is to provide strategic, mission-driven communications that serve the public interest and advance the greater good.
